Njammies Quick Answers – Seed Crackers

Seeds doing what seeds do best.

Our Seed Crackers start with a generous mixture of seeds, combined with simple ingredients and water, then left for a little while until everything becomes wonderfully gloopy.

They're spread out, slowly baked and broken into rustic shards — no two need to look exactly alike.

Seed Crackers Quick Answers

How do we make our Seed Crackers?

We mix the seeds with water and the other simple ingredients, then leave the mixture for a little while so the seeds can absorb the moisture. Once it has thickened, we spread it out and slowly bake it for around 45–55 minutes. When it's crisp and completely cool, we break it into rustic shards and pack it.

Why does the mixture become so gloopy?

That's the seeds doing their job. As they sit in the water, some of them — especially flax and chia where used — absorb moisture and help everything bind together. The mixture becomes thick and gloopy enough for us to spread it out for baking.

Why are our Seed Crackers broken into rustic shards?

We bake the mixture as a sheet and then break it by hand once it's ready. That means the pieces won't all be exactly the same shape or size — some are neat, some are wonky, and that's exactly how they're meant to be.

Why can the texture vary a little?

Seeds, thickness and baking all play a part. Thinner pieces may be extra crisp, while slightly thicker pieces can have a little more bite. Because we spread and break our Seed Crackers by hand, a little variation comes with every batch.

How do I keep my Seed Crackers crisp?

Keep them well sealed in their packet or transfer them to an airtight container. Store them in a cool, dry place away from moisture. Once opened, close them up well after every visit — crisp Seed Crackers and humid air aren't the best of friends.
